New Jersey Fires!
In recent news that was released it was said that New Jersey is being burned down. The repots stated that 12,500 acres was burned during the time of this fire. There was also a evacuation notice that was sent out to the nearby residents. A number of over 5,000 people were evacuated. The area that the fire is reported as affecting is Greenwood Forest Wild life management area in ocean county. At 9:45 am the fire began severely burning down 8,500 acres by 10:45 pm Tuesday This was information that was stated by the new Jersey fire department.
The power line to near by areas were cut in order for the fire not to spread in attempts to reduce the areas that would be affected. Also to prevent damage severe damage to power boxes that may be in close proximity. As of Wednesday April 23rd, 2025 40% of the fire was contained. The cause of the fire has not been declared to the public nor are they 100% sure what brought this fire on. Reports are saying that the weather is contributing to the fires that began to blaze in New Jersey.
A state of Emergency was declared by the acting governor Tahesha Way early Wednesday morning. Shawn M LaTourette who is the Commissioner of Environmental Protection says this is the worst fire that they have seen in the last 20 years. They are expecting the fire to burn for a few more days before it is truly put out completely. During the time that the power was shut off on Tuesday, over 25,000 people were powerless. However the power was restored on Wednesday when they were able to get a form of control over the fire spreading any further. Ocean Township reported no structural damage, on the other hand Lacey Township did report some damage on their end.
