SLEEP DEPRIVATION AND BRAIN FUNCTION!
Scientist has been studying what the lack of sleep does to your brain for years. Now they have reached a better understanding on sleep deprivation and how it affects the nervous system; your level of sensitivity when you have not gotten enough rest or have not slept at all in a 24 hour period. You have heard people say numerous times previously that they have not slept in two days which is 48 hours, or that they are going on their third day of no sleep, which is 72 hours. Some may find this impressive and others may not. In Nas song: New York State of Mind: you hear him refer to not sleeping because sleep is the cousin of death. That statement may have been something that impact some in a positive way, but that is not a statement that you can and should take too literal. Yes there are people who have died in their sleep but the percentage of the is low.
In the reality of sleeping; the less sleep that you attain, or get during the night the higher your level of aggravation gets. You become a walking time bomb waiting to explode. The disassociation of your brain from reality becomes severe. Your brain then start to develop what is known as memory fog; the fog that was developed in the brain becomes thicker each day you do not sleep, or get enough sleep. Your nerve receptors become sensitive to the pain that you are feeling. Your nervous system becomes heighten or enflamed from not resting. In reality a full night of sleep consist of 7- 8 hours in order for you to get adequate rest; this was shown within a study. Some may be able to feel adequately rested with 6 hours. I sleep on average 6 hours out of a 24 hour day, that works for me.
There have been conversations in the past stating that if you own your own business you do not sleep, nor do you get sleep. Steve Harvey, and Elon Musk was advocating this. There are some truths to this for any business owner, it is not that they do not get sleep at all. There may be days that you do not attain any sleep because you are finishing a project or working hard to accomplish something specific, but after that you will need to sleep because it is imperative to you getting more accomplished. Sometimes sacrifices are needed to reach goals and the next level in any structure.
It is the same with college students when they pull what is called an all nighter, they have a project that needs to be completed for class tomorrow and in order to finish it they have to stay up the entire night. Not thinking about the cause as to why they have to work all night, this is something you know that people do. Is it something that is recommended? No it is not! Practicing healthy habits helps you remain in a healthy state of mind and exhibiting a better self.
