YardBird Southern Table and Bar on the Beach!

Miami is always a good place to enjoy a quick get away and time to yourself as well. There is always  business to be handled here and work that is getting done by local workers and those who are in town for  meetings. Everyone that comes to Miami wants to enjoy their time here but they also want to enjoy good food at a restaurant that can provide an environment that fulfill their needs in every aspect. Finding restaurants is not that hard, but good food along with a comfortable atmosphere is not easy to place. There are so many places you can go but which ones would be the best ones for you to visit while here? Some restaurants can be costly and others can be relatively reasonable with their prices. For foodies you want to be happy and keep your stomach fulfilled with great flavors and textures that gives your taste bud something to be excited about.

It is a well known fact that food is not what it use to be and the chef's aren't cut from the same cloth as previous ones; making it harder for you to find great tasting meals that are worth the prices that many restaurants charge. As a foodie I like to go out and find food that is tasteful and enjoyable. Things such as getting excited about smelling your food before you see it seems to be a thing that is slowly dying. Unless its somewhere you have been before and you know what to expect it makes it a little bit harder to explore outside of what you already know. So many go online and read reviews about the restaurant's before they choose them to gain as much information as they can about the menu and what to choose; it is not a simple thing to do even after receiving reviews from co-workers, family members and friends. Everyone taste buds just aren't the same.

I was on the phone with a friend of fine who recently visited Las Vegas and he said to me hey Kamilah, I know you are a big foodie so I just thought I would tell you about a restaurant I went to on my trip; by the name of Yard Bird. I am pretty sure you will be able to appreciate their southern style food and what the menu carries. I quickly replied well I no longer eat meat so unless they have vegetarian food there I do not think I will be visiting this restaurant. He quickly responded with I am not one hundred precent sure because I had the fried chicken and waffles but I am pretty sure you will enjoy the food. Continuing the conversation he quickly state: I am not sure if there are any in south beach but let me look for it now and let you know. I thought quickly to myself and of course I remembered there is one on south beach that I have passed numerous times before. I chimed in and notified him with this information. He said good you need to try their food and tell me what you think! with that being said a week later I found myself requesting a table for one at Yard Bird on south beach.

I have been a vegetarian for a year now but I still want to eat good like everyone else. It is not hard to find a vegetarian meal here in Miami but it is kind of hard to find a restaurant that you can appreciate the food on the menu when you do not eat meat. As I was being seated the greeter at the front asked if I would be expecting anyone else and I responded with no it will just be me today. She looked at me and smile and told me to enjoy. My waiter came to me and asked me if I would like something to drink as I reviewed the menu. I told him yes, some sparkling water would be great. He brought my sparkling water and asked if I would like anything else e.g.: alcoholic beverage, I told him no because I was on my lunch break. He said okay I understand!

As a reviewed the menu most of the items contained meat. Eg: Preacher's Ham Biscuit, Charcuterie & Cheese which comes with an assortment of meat, Smoked Brisket Biscuits, Swine Burger, Crunchy YardBird Sandwich, Grilled Chicken BLT, YardBirdd Chicken Wings. I called my server over and asked him to help me with the menu because I do not eat meat and I want to know the best route for me to go. Going over the menu I saw the chicken and waffles that was referenced to me by my friend and thought I could have the waffles but it would be pointless for me to have just half of that particular meal. I noticed the deviled eggs but decided against it because I wasn't in the mood. I did not want a salad from the restaurant either so i skipped over the typical caesar salad and their kale salad. We went over several items on the menu. The shrimp and grits caught my eye but it is made with chicken broth so that was definitely out of the question for me; my server mentioned their Low and Slow Smoked Chicken Salad without the chicken but once again I had to decline on the salad. I explained to him I wanted something different and I wanted to enjoy my meal as I took in the view of the trees around me and all the cars stopping and going at the stop sign, the people who were passing by as well as the ones entering and exiting the restaurant.

After the few minutes of going back and fourth I decided on an  appetizer which was the Warm Farmer's Cheese and Watermelon, instead of ordering a full meal I decided to go with three appetizer instead, and added the Fried Green Tomato BLT to my order without the bacon; an American Classic completed my order Mac and Cheese Pie.  I was not sure if it was something I would enjoy but my taste bud said something different as I bit into my appetizer and began to chew. I was pleased with my over all food selection and my server. He made my experience a pleasant one with his patience and food suggestions as far as the menu and we were able to enjoy a decent conversation about me becoming vegetarian and my journey to get to where I am today. I was pleased with the over all delivery of the food, the presentation of the plate and the portion that was given to me. The food was delicious and I can definitely see myself going back to Yard Bird to enjoy more meals.
