ST. PETERSBURG — August 27, 2016 — This year, the last days of summer will be crowned with the highly anticipated opening of New Holland Island. As announced earlier, August will see the completion of the first and most important phase of the restoration and regeneration of the island: the introduction of a park zone with temporary pavilions. Additionally, the island now has infrastructure for the engineering and technical support necessary to support the functions of the park and the restoration of the remaining structures.

The park landscaping has been designed by the Dutch landscape and urban design bureau, West 8, while the concept for the temporary structures was created by St Petersburg-based architects, Sergey Bukin and Lyubov Leontieva (Ludi Architects).
AUGUST 27
From 12:00 pm until 11:00 pm 

Opening of the exhibition Experiences of the Imaginary, presented by Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, as part of their grant program for emerging Russian artists

Performance by the street orchestra Mosbrass (throughout the day)

8:00 pm Symphonic Kino (songs by the legendary band Kino, performed by a symphony orchestra, together with Yuri Kasparyan, conducted by Igor Vdovin)

10:00 pm Light show and  reworks display
AUGUST 28
From 12:00 am until 11:00 pm 

1:00 pm The Day of the Big Ship, a theatrical performance to mark the grand opening of the children’s playground, with the School of Young Captains and P.T.H. Creative Manufacture

6:30 pm Concert by SBPCh, backed by a children’s orchestra

Throughout the opening days, there will be kiosks serving food and beverages from the Ferma Burgers co-op and the Volkonsky Bakery, as well as a Big Tent Bazaar with stalls from the cafés King-Pong, Fjord, Jacks Street and Bekitzer.

Entrance to the park with outside food and beverages is not permitted. For the opening days, the Admiralteysky Canal Embankment will be limited to pedestrian traf c only.

Beginning on Monday, August 29, the island will be open from 11:00 am until 10:00 pmMondaythrough Thursday, and from 11:00 am until 11:00 pmFriday through Sunday. The last entrance to the park is at 10:30 pm.

Admission is free, except for certain events to be announced separately.
