UNTITLED, Art Expands to San Francisco, CA in 2017
New York, NY, March 29, 2016 - Untitled, Art, the international, curated art fair announces the launch of its second location in San Francisco, CA. Untitled, San Francisco will take place in January 2017 at the historic Pier 70 in the city’s arts district of the Dogpatch neighborhood.
Untitled’s innovative perspective on the art fair model debuted to critical acclaim in 2012 amidst the multitude of fairs in Miami Beach. For four years Untitled has consistently upped its game: increasing attendance and the caliber of visitors; raising the level of private collection and institutional sales for exhibitors; and pushing the boundaries of what makes an art fair interesting and engaging. Untitled, San Francisco will allow the fair to grow and work with new galleries it has not worked with in Miami Beach, in a setting that parallels the fair’s spirit and mission.
The Bay Area has always attracted visionaries and progressive thinkers, and is known for its outstanding food and wine, world-class hotels and regional attractions. More recently it has cemented its position as a destination on the international arts agenda. The current succession of activity with the reopening of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Berkeley Art Museum, in addition to its world-class, private and public contemporary art collections, cultural institutions, commercial galleries and organizations, adds to the Bay Area’s appeal.
After several years of research and analysis for a second location, Untitled is poised to inaugurate a long-term platform that will contribute to and grow alongside of the pioneering community in the Bay Area - home to a number of the world’s top collectors, and a hub for industries such as health care, bio-tech, high-tech, real estate, finance, venture capital and NGOs.
Pier 70’s open-space plan and unpolished, industrial locale is a paragon setting for Untitled’s distinct approach to the art fair model. The Dogpatch neighborhood is the optimum location for the fair with a number of galleries, recognized restaurants and retail establishments located nearby.
Untitled, San Francisco will activate the vast space of Pier 70 with dynamic programming that will occupy the site, indoors and outside. Untitled thrives on collaboration and will engage with Bay Area institutions, galleries and artists, to create a series of special projects and events that will highlight their programs and capture the city’s energy and appeal.
Untitled, San Francisco will take place in January, a relatively quiet month on the calendar of international art fairs, and will coincide with and compliment other Bay Area events. It is an opportunity to bring Untitled’s supportive group of international collectors and museum groups to experience the city’s vibrant cultural community and favorable climate.
A list of exhibitors and programming is in development and will be announced in the coming months.
Untitled, San Francisco, 2017 will take place January 13, 14, 15, 2017.
The VIP and press preview will take place on Thursday, January 12, 2017.
